		<description>Sherry, What a pleasure to hear from you, and thanks for your comment.

&quot;By the end I had tears in my eyes, not from laughing, but from the realization that life doesn’t end at 60 or 70 or 80 nor apparently at 88 1/2.&quot;

Quite true--many people still have a great deal to contribute at 60, 70, 80, and beyond. Entertainers clearly get a lot of attention in this regard, but they are not the only ones who make this a better world for all of us.

		<description>It was great to see you on Facebook and I&#039;m so glad you directed me to your blog. I missed SNL and was delighted to get to see Betty White&#039;s monologue. By the end I had tears in my eyes, not from laughing, but from the realization that life doesn&#039;t end at 60 or 70 or 80 nor apparently at 88 1/2. Thanks for reminding me.</description>

		<description>Jean, Thanks for your comment.

&quot;Having a sense of humor and doing work you love definitely do seem to play a big role in enjoying life at any age.&quot;

I couldn&#039;t have said it better myself.

		<description>I have an aunt who reminds me of Betty White. She&#039;s 89, funny, and can still run circles around most of us when it comes to getting things done. She loves doing things for others - washing dishes and teaching classes at the senior citizens center, making things for her grand kids, helping out at her church, etc. Having a sense of humor and doing work you love definitely do seem to play a big role in enjoying life at any age.

		<description>Manal, I&#039;m glad you enjoyed the video clip.

And &quot;They demonstate that we can be as good at 80 as any other age.&quot;
I completely agree.

		<description>Madeleine,
Great two examples of brilliance. They are both legends and rightly so. They demonstate that we can be as good at 80 as any other age.

I didn&#039;t watch SNL so I&#039;m thankful for the clip in your blog. Had a good laugh

		<description>Angela, I also loved Betty White on the Mary Tyler Moore show. (I loved the whole show.) And I used to enjoy Angela Lansbury on &quot;Murder, She Wrote.&quot;

To me what is exceptional about these two is the great talent, rather than the age. I just read of another enormously talented man, Hank Jones, whose career spanned eight decades. He died two days ago at the age of 91, and his obituary (titled &quot;Piano genius played big-band to bebop&quot;) was in the Washington Post today. What a life he led, including becoming a professional jazz pianist at age 13 against his father&#039;s wishes.

It does seem that continuing to do work for which one has a great passion is a big factor in living a long, healthy, and happy life.

		<description>Hi Madeleine,
I watched Saturday Night Live when Betty White hosted and thought it was one of the better shows in a long time - at least since Tina Fey did such a great job playing Sarah Palin.

I loved Betty White as Sue Ann Niven on The Mary Tyler Moore show -a favorite show when I grew up. Betty looked so wholesome yet she played this nympho on the MTM show and it was hilarious!

You know, as time passes and I get older, the younger I think 80 sounds!
Thanks for making me feel young!
