@Jean, Thanks for the comment. Actually, yard work is one of the activities in the President's Challenge. I think you have to keep track of your time and then log it in. Having a walking (or a biking) partner is really pleasant. Sometimes I walk with my BF but often I walk while he's at work.

@Manal, Thank you for your kind comment. I don't tend to get bored with my regular exercise routine. I think it's partly because I combine walking with bird-watching which I really enjoy. And thanks to eating healthy and exercising, I don't need medication for type 2 diabetes (which of course is the subject of a previous blog post or two.)

Good on you Madeleine! You are an inspiration.

I tried an online community a couple of years ago. It worked OK for a while then I got bored. That is my issue. I get bored with stuff. The best motivation for me to do it is to make it a short habit. What I do now is the 5 Tibetan rites every day (they take about 15 minutes). Then I let the day take care of the rest. Sometimes its the backyard, a mini stepper in front of the TV or a walk. Other days it's nothing. As long as I do it more days than not, it works out for me.

I applaud you for earning your gold medal! As someone who struggles with exercising regularly, I'm truly impressed. Right now I'm getting tons of exercise with our yard and garden work and walking in the neighborhood, but I'm going to have to get into a structured program of some sort in the fall. I could use a walking partner like you!
