Rising to the 7 Link Challenge

by Madeleine Kolb

Darren Rowse at Pro Blogger has a 7 link challenge  going, and I’m always up for a good challenge. So here’s what I’ve got:

1. Your first post

Got that Old Lady Look   Hey, it’s a start.

2. A post you enjoyed writing the most

Three Unmistakable Signs that You’re Turning into a Little Old Lady   Some comic relief from writing about health care reform and Alzheimer’s Disease.

3. A post which had a great discussion

Who Says Old People Don’t Use Computers?

4. A post on someone else’s blog you wish you’d written

The Happy Face Syndrome: Are You Caught in the Trap?  A welcome look at pressure to be positive no matter what by Dr. Lauren Sierra Thomas. A huge relief to know that I’m not alone on this.

5.  Your most helpful post

How to Save Your Own Life or Some One Else’s  based on a book by Robert Cialdini. I got a comment from a reader half-way around the world who had chanced upon an accident just as I had described and did what the post said to do. That made my week!

6.  A post with a title that you are proud of

A Vulture’s Got to make a Living (Like Everyone Else)  One of the profound truths learned when I was a zoology student. Also applies to snakes, mosquitoes, and other critters who are just trying to make a living.

7.  A post that you wish more people had read

Just one? OK, it’s Career Advice from Mom, Seriously  Seriously helpful advice about how to suceed  on the job and not sell your soul.

I love that you took this challenge!
It really makes for a great read!
I loved reading “Career Advice from Mom” and I had fun re-reading “Three Unmistakable Signs that You’re Turning into a Little Old Lady” I remember hanging out with my Mom during her visit and both of us laughing hysterically while reading it – laughing because of the relevance and her identifying with it. It was a beautiful moment.

I suppose I need to rise to the 7 link challenge now. I’ve had a note to do that since I saw it on ProBlogger.

Thanks for your recent guest post on my blog. Frankly, I expected more comments since it is a great article. Maybe some of your readers will come on over and comment. It’s the link below:

Hey Gip, Great to see you. I think you’d really enjoy this challenge also. It made me do some thinking about my writing, as if I were creating a mini-portfolio of my work.

I was stuck on No. 4 for quite a while, until I remembered Lauren Sierra Thomas’ post and how relieved I felt when I read it.

Also a great idea to post the link to my guest post here.

Madeleine
I have enjoyed reading your 7 link challenge. My favorite is “unmistakable signs that you are turning into a little old lady” I like the humor but it is gentle. I also just loved the photo.
I hope you enjoyed the challenge. It is good looking back at the posts and seeing how far you have come

Marion, Thank you so much for the comment. Doing the 7-Link Challenge was surprisingly enjoyable and helpful, almost as if I were reading someone else’s work. I love doing humor, and-when we get along in years-there is a lot of ridiculous stuff to laugh at.

Did you do the challenge also? Oh, wait, I’ll just swing by your blog and have a look.
